2005 - Gearing Up for The L.A.T.E. Ride

Ride Date: July 10, 2005
T-shirt designer: John Doyle

Congratulations to John Doyle, whose design was chosen for the 2005 t-shirt! John Doyle grew up in Palos Park, Illinois and currently lives in Chicago. John graduated from Chicago's Columbia College in 2003 with a B.A. in graphic design. He works as a freelance designer around the Chicagoland area. John has been active participant in Friends of the Parks' L.A.T.E. Ride since 1995.

Our annual, non-competitive charity ride took place on Saturday night/Sunday morning July 10. Riders enjoyed 22 moonstruck miles through Chicago's downtown and North Side neighborhoods and parks.

The L.A.T.E. (Long After Twilight Ends) Ride, incidentally, keeps growing. In 1989, 350 cyclists rode. In 2005, 9,000 joined the fun. It's one of Chicago's BIGGEST and most popular charity bicycle rides! "It's like Woodstock on wheels," said one rider. In 2005, 58% of riders were 23-39 years old; 54% came from Chicago suburbs, 34% from Chicago, and the remaining 12% from outside the Chicago area. Males comprised 55% of the participants, and females 45%.
