Ron and I finally decided to get married in a very simple ceremony on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Getting to that beach had its share of anxiety-filled events, from the frigid weather in Chicago, to losing a credit card and challenges getting through security at O'Hare Airport.
When we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale, we found a taxi to take us to the beach where we were to meet Donna, our officiant. But we had trouble finding the right street (Hollywood Beach is a very long beach!). Thank goodness for cell phones! Rain threatened all through our lovely ceremony, but held off until we were done with pictures. Donna, bless her heart, put us up in her car while it rained and drove us to a restaurant in town. Turns out our taxi was able to drop us off at the beach, but wouldn't pick us up because we didn't have an actual pick-up address!
Once at the restaurant, we had our necessary "address" and the taxi came and whisked us off to our port of departure for a six-night cruise on the Caribbean. Fun and dun! And plenty of opportunities to shake off all of the stressors of an otherwise fabulous Big Day.
We look forward to the ride, during which we'll celebrate the "anniversary" of our engagement!
