T-Shirt Design Contest
Each year, we ask for t-shirt design entries from graphic designers, artists, illustrators and other talented people - no professional art experience necessary. Our 2009 winner was Marc Shapiro. Marc grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design from UW-Madison. After college, Marc lived in Chicago for five years. He started bicycling to work and it wasn't long before he discovered The L.A.T.E. Ride. Marc is happy to be riding for a fifth time this year. He says, "There's nothing better than riding through the neighborhoods of Chicago at night with thousands of other cyclists." While no longer a Chicago resident, Marc tries to get back as often as he can. He currently works as a graphic designer in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. If you want to see more of his work, check out www.marcshapiro.org Each year, Friends of the Parks holds a t-shirt design contest open to everyone. We received more than thirty submissions in 2009, from which the planning committee chose this year's design. Check out The T-Shirt Gallery to view designs from 1989 through 2009. (Actually, we didn't have the money our first year to produce t-shirts, so 350 riders in 1989 got a patch!) It's never too early to start thinking about a design for 2010! We encourage you to submit a design for the 22nd annual t-shirt! Submission deadline: 4:00pm on Thursday, April 15, 2010. Guidelines:
